Be a Child's Hero Preconference Virtual Event: Project Forecast
Project Forecast is a problem-based learning training that seeks to go beyond textbooks, bringing participants into real-world situations where they can apply their knowledge, and explore their assumptions in a safe learning environment. Conference attendees will observe, discuss, and make decisions that impact the rest of the simulation. All the while, defining problems, uncovering information, and working together to identify and evaluate possible solutions.
In this session, you will meet Michael, age 12. Michael appears to have red lines on his arms, just barely visible under his short-sleeved shirt. The lines appear red and seem to match up from one arm to the next. What do you think happened to Michael? What are the facts? What are the next steps?
Join us in this session as we will experience the power of mixed reality simulation learning in a safe space.
Objectives:
- Participants will experience and increase their understanding of the benefits of Problem Based Learning.
- Participants will conduct a minimal facts interview related to suspected child abuse.
- Participants will demonstrate critical thinking skills to generate hypotheses and hunches pertaining to available case information and identify potential next steps.
