Anna Paravano

Trauma Resource Institut

Anna is a career educator and is trained as a therapeutic parent in attachment regulation therapy and community resilience model through the Trauma Resource Institute. She has served as education director of the Attachment & Trauma Network and has been educating, developing curriculum, writing, coaching, and consulting with caregivers and organizations on attachment- and trauma-related topics and issues for several years. 

Goodwin Higa

Principal of Cherokee Point Elementary

Cherokee Point Elementary School & Citizen's Review Board on Police Practices

Mr. Godwin Higa who was born and raised on a farm in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He
is currently the principal of the first trauma-informed school in San Diego, Cherokee
Point Elementary School. His school was recognized by the Huffington Post and the
California Endowment as one of the few trauma-informed schools in the nation.
He has been a principal with San Diego Unified School District for 18 years in
elementary and secondary schools. He was a teacher at Donovan Correctional Facility
State Prison in San Diego, and a hospice patient volunteer for five years in Hemet,
California, and San Diego.
He has presented at Urban Health Institute, John Hopkins University, Bloomberg
School of Public Health, ACEs Summit, and at numerous conferences, trainings, and
governmental meetings in San Diego - and with local schools, universities, and
organizations throughout California, Oregon, and Hawaii in July of 2017. Very busy
year.
He is currently a Human Relations Commissioner and a member of the Citizen's Review
Board on Police Practices, appointed by the mayor of San Diego.
