Social Work Breaks Barriers: Use of the Arts in Trauma Informed Care & Practice to Help People & Communities Thrive!

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time

To provide trauma-informed care to children, youth, and families involved with child welfare, professionals must understand the impact of trauma on child development, the parent, and the family, and learn how to effectively minimize its effects without causing additional trauma through practice modalities. This conference will focus on practice modalities that offer trauma-informed care and practice techniques, resources, and ethical practice for caseworkers, caregivers, and families that focus on understanding and treating trauma through the use of the arts (drama, music, art, narrative therapy, etc.) and building culturally sensitive trauma-informed child welfare systems. Our key note will focus on understanding trauma through dramatization and how to apply narrative therapy for healing of traumatized clients. Other sessions will focus on use of tele-mental health, ethics, expressive art, and music to treat traumatized children, youth, and families. In addition, supportive resources for caregivers and families about trauma from various exhibitors will be available for conference attendees.  There will also be a chance to win prizes for your participation in the conference! 7.0 CEUs (includes ethics and clinical CEs) will be awarded for the  conference cost of $65.00, which is a $125.00 value!
