John Myers is a highly experienced and motivated Natural Resource Scientist who has been working in the field of geospatial analysis for over a decade. Dr. Maya Martin is an assistant professor at Tuskegee University with expertise in community mental health and child welfare with special interest in working with adults and children. She is a former child welfare professional and brings to this training her knowledge of the health and wellness of children and parents.

Ms. Febreu Holston, LBSW, MSW, ABD is a licensed social worker who work majority of her career in child welfare and as an adjunct instructor with the Department of Social Work. Mary Ann Wilson is a Licensed Master Social Work. She is an Author, Entrepreneur, Instructor/Professor @ Tuskegee University, Poet, Speaker and Gospel Train Radio Show host. She is CEO of Saving Ourselves Saving Our Sons, a program designed to teach effective coping skills to children, focusing on helping children understand they can grow up to be brilliant and not violent. She is retired from the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources after working for 27 years for the state. She has published three books.

Her other books, “Brainwashed to Brilliance Recovering From Slavery” and “A Journey to Brilliancy” were written to help us understand how we all can begin the process of recovering from slavery. Karen is a licensed clinical social worker and is the director of Program Strategy at Chaddock. They're a multi-service agency providing a range of residential, educational, and community-based services for youth, from birth through 21, as well as for their families.

While at Chaddock, Karen has been instrumental in developing an innovative residential program for adolescents, age 8 through 16, who have attachment and trauma issues. One of the only programs of its kind for older adolescents, Chaddock's Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program (DTAP) has served youth from 33 different states in the United States, and from 18 originating countries.

Karen is perhaps—in my opinion—one of the most talented therapists and widely-versed therapists that I know. She's a Certified Theraplay Trainer, therapist and supervisor. Her energetic and interactive style makes her a sought-after speaker and trainer, and she's presented at several national and international conferences as well as writing for numerous journal articles and book chapters. She's currently involved in a research project that examines the intergenerational transmission of attachment in adoption, with the Center of Attachment Research in the New School University in New York City, and her first book, Attachment Theory in Action, was released late 2017.

Karen has over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. The last 20 of those have been at Chaddock serving as a therapist and then as the Director of Attachment Programming, Director of Treatment Services, and now the Director of Program Strategies. Tiffany Sudela-Junker is a mother by adoption to two children with vastly different trauma-based special needs. Her award-winning documentary, “My Name Is Faith” captures the Junker’s early journey, coming to terms with the impact their daughter’s difficult beginning would have on them all. With her own growth process as an example, Tif mentors and advocates for an “empathy + connection before correction” approach to parenting. Stressing EXTRA empathy, mindfulness, humor, attunement, self-compassion, and reciprocal atonement as key ingredients to helping tough kids achieve higher function and healthy relationships. Through stories of struggle and lessons learned with her brilliant, challenging and hilarious children, Tif raises awareness and an authentic understanding of the EXTREME neurology, behavior, circumstances, and the emotional strength found in families struggling to overcome the aftermath of childhood trauma. Selected as an 2017 Angels in Adoption Award recipient by Senator Patty Murray (WA), Tif is a board member and the Parenting Program Director for the Attachment & Trauma Network, a community of therapeutic parents creating trauma-sensitive schools, building awareness about the lasting impact of trauma and empowering parents to facilitate recovery and help build resilience with their children. In addition, Tif is on the Leadership Committee for Kitsap Strong, a collective impact initiative with a mission to help all people flourish through an emphasis on empowerment and equity, educational attainment, the prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences/toxic stress, and the building of resilience & hope.

Christine "Cissy" White is a writer, adoptive mother, health advocate, group manager of
the Parenting with ACEs group, and community-facilitator for the mid-Atlantic and
Northeast region for the ACEs Connection Network.
She founded Heal Right Now in 2014, hoping to create the survivor-led community she
craved her whole life. She was published in The Boston Globe, Spirituality and Health,
Ms. Magazine, To Write Love on Her Arms, and The Elephant Journal. She led
Parenting with PTSD and ACEs workshops for trauma survivors and treatment
providers.
She's a co-founder of the #FacesOfPTSD campaign. Her survivor-led advocacy has been
written about in The Atlantic, Huffington Post, and The Mighty. She believes any
trauma-informed initiative must be informed by trauma survivors in order to be
effective.

Anna is a career educator and is trained as a therapeutic parent in attachment regulation therapy and community resilience model through the Trauma Resource Institute. She has served as education director of the Attachment & Trauma Network and has been educating, developing curriculum, writing, coaching, and consulting with caregivers and organizations on attachment- and trauma-related topics and issues for several years. 

Mr. Godwin Higa who was born and raised on a farm in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He
is currently the principal of the first trauma-informed school in San Diego, Cherokee
Point Elementary School. His school was recognized by the Huffington Post and the
California Endowment as one of the few trauma-informed schools in the nation.
He has been a principal with San Diego Unified School District for 18 years in
elementary and secondary schools. He was a teacher at Donovan Correctional Facility
State Prison in San Diego, and a hospice patient volunteer for five years in Hemet,
California, and San Diego.
He has presented at Urban Health Institute, John Hopkins University, Bloomberg
School of Public Health, ACEs Summit, and at numerous conferences, trainings, and
governmental meetings in San Diego - and with local schools, universities, and
organizations throughout California, Oregon, and Hawaii in July of 2017. Very busy
year.
He is currently a Human Relations Commissioner and a member of the Citizen's Review
Board on Police Practices, appointed by the mayor of San Diego.

Dr. Greene is the originator of the innovative and research-based approach that is now known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, or CPS for short. You can learn more about that in his books—The Explosive Child, and Lost at School, and his most recent book Raising Human Beings. Dr. Greene served on the teaching faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, and he's currently on the faculty at the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech and at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia.

Billy Kaplan, President and Clinical Director at House Calls Counseling is an experienced trainer who has presented extensively at local, national, and international organizations on attachment disorders, parenting skills, adolescent development, child welfare, and a host of other topics. Billy is perhaps most recognized for Parenting in SPACE, a workshop he hosts guiding parents to move from traditional parenting techniques to the SPACE of therapeutic parenting—safety, support, structure, supervision, playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy. 

Ce Eshelman is an attachment specialist and founder of The Attach Place, Center for Strengthening Relationships, located in Sacramento, California. She has been in practice since 1987.

Learning from the best minds in the attachment field—Dan Siegel, Bruce Perry, Bessel van der Kolk, and others—she works every day with adopted children and their parents. Raising her two adopted children into adulthood has given her the insight, humor, and hard-earned wisdom to speak with authority and love. Ce recently authored Drowning with My Hair on Fire: Insanity Relief for Adoptive Parents. 

 Mark and his extraordinary wife, Bethel, have six astounding children. He's a fierce advocate for children from hard places and the families that care for them. Mark left a three-decade career as a software engineer to support families worldwide through parent coaching, training, and speaking. He also blogs and is a moderator of the 14,000-member Facebook group called Parenting with Connection. His parent coaching business is called Seen and Heard Coach.

Originally, Mark was an old-school parent. He and Bethel adopted two children from foster care and discovered that everything they thought they knew about parenting left them woefully unprepared for the hand that their new children were dealing them. Bethel dragged Mark to his first trauma-informed parenting conference, sparking his insatiable curiosity. He turned his inner engineer to the problem of becoming a connected parent, studying not only the books and videos but also the research they cited. Then he became a TBRI practitioner.

Combining the logical and analytical mind of an engineer with the hard-won experience of a parent who is still in the trenches, Mark makes complex topics accessible and meets parents where they are with compassion, understanding, acceptance, affirmation, and most importantly hope. His vulnerability about his own failures makes him persuasive without judgment or shame.

His dad superpowers are that he can lose at Candy Land while making it look real and reading the same bedtime story every night for a year. He can also bake after midnight for suddenly remembered classroom events, simultaneously being declared both the worst dad ever and the best dad ever, and stepping on Legos in the dark—ouch—and finding long-lost tools while mowing the grass.
